K atraj to Sinhgad Fort or as we call it K2S is a popular trek for professional trekkers, amateurs and newbie’s. The route starts from the Katraj Tunnel Top ( Old ) travels through a series of mountains and hills (approx. 15) and approximately (16kms.) which leads to the destination the Top of Sinhagad Fort.

Katraj Ghat
The Route which connects Pune to South Maharashtra. Both Katraj Tunnel and Sinhagad are connected by a single mountain range of Sahyadri Mountains. This range of around 13 hills has become very famous in Pune for Trekking due to various features. The views of Pune City and the Lights, Millions of Stars, the up trail which goes up and down. All these things make one test the stamina, patience, and endurance. Which makes the trek, a perfect one to start off the trekking, and for this reason, the Trek has become one of the favorites amongst the Trekkers.

Sinhgad Fort
A very famous fort near Pune. The fort has been very important in the History of Pune for various reasons. There are many Historical incidents are related to the fort, Tanaji Malusare’s death in 1670, while fighting for the Fort to be taken from Surybhan, being one of the major incidents.

Trek Essentials

7 Tips for Trekking

The fitter you are before you depart, the easier your trek will be. By following the below tips not only will you be well prepared for possibly a trip of a lifetime but you’ll get so much more out of your trekking experience.

1 Choose the correct footwear for your trek.
2 Build leg strength.
3 Train on the similar walking terrain.
4 Practice using your backpack.
5 Use walking poles.
6 Hydrate yourself frequently when walking.
7 Fuel your trekking.

Basic Gears

• Backpack (30-40 liters): A backpack with sturdy straps and a supporting frame. Rain cover for the backpack is essential.
• Trekking / Sports shoes in good condition. (require A good grip.)
• TORCH / Headlamp.
(Keep Separate Plastic carry bags for Mobile, Wallet, etc. to save it from a rain.)

Trek Apparels

• Full Sleeved & collared T-shirts: To prevent sunburns on the neck and arms.
• Full Trekking Pants.
• Sweaters / Sweatshirt; To protect from cold at night.
• Wear one pair and carry one pair in a plastic bag.
• Cap / Rain jackets / Warm wears / Windcheater as per season.
• Napkin or towel.


• Snacks: Fruits, Dry-fruits, cookies & chocolates, etc.
• Min. 3-4 liters. water bottles. / Hydration pack.
• Energy drink like electrolyte powder.
• Personal medicines, if any.


• Sunglasses, Cap, Headlamp / LED Torch, Trekking Pole, Camera etc.
• Extra slipper to use after the trek or at the campsite.
• Cutlery: Carry a Plate, spoon, glass and dry snacks in a small tiffin box. (We insist on trekkers getting their own cutlery for hygiene reasons.)

Personal Utilities

• Sunscreen cream, Hand sanitizer, Moisturiser, etc.
• Toilet Paper & wipes, Toothbrush, and toothpaste & Quick dry towel.


• While packing, use plastic bags to compartmentalize things and carry few extra plastic bags for wet clothes.
• Avoid wearing precious jewelry while trekking, as SG-Trekkers team, won’t be responsible for any losses for the same.
• Always keep your Original Photo ID with you.
• Follow all the Instructions given by Trek Leaders.
• Respect the Local Religion & Traditions.
• Keep healthy environment & helpful nature while trekking & at the time of activity.
• Any type of addictions like tobacco, liquor, etc. are strictly not allowed.
• This is just a reminder list of what to bring. You can bring other things as per the need.

    It\’s Time to Review…
    Katraj to Singhgad encore! I never tire from climbing the same hills again and again. It’s some 13 odd hills up and down. Have lost count on how many times I’ve done it and will do it again. It’s a good way to measure if my strength and stamina is better or same or worse.
    Most loving scene was d night view of Pune from top of the hills..😍😘
    Overall it\’s amazing & enjoyable Trek with sgtrekkers as usual… SGians 😍
