Kamalgad is a fort in Wai, district Satara. This fort situated in the heart of Dhom dam such as Walki river on the north side of the fort and Krishna river in the south of the fort. We reach up from the base in approx. 3 hours & on the way we can see a Goraksnath temple. After walking through a dense jungle, we reach near Dhangarwada. From here, on the way uphill, there is a way of ladder fixed on boulders.

After came upstairs and we can see well of red-stone (Geru) The well is an about 40-50 ft. Here are few constructed steps coming down to the base of the well; as touching each step its felt to change in the atmosphere. There is a red clay soil(Geru-Red Ochre) on either side of the stairs. According to locals, this soil has some unique medicinal properties.

Day 1 SundayWell of Geru

05:00 – Reporting to SG Team.
06:00 – Travel to the base village from Pune.
07:30 – Breakfast+Tea.
10:00 – Reach base village.
10:15 – Group introduction & briefing about the trek.
10:30 – Commence trek to Kamalgad Fort.
13:30 – Reach the top of fort & Explore the surroundings.
16:30 – Descend at base village.
17:30 – Lunch and travel to Pune.
21:00 – Reach Pune.

Trek Essentials

Basic Gears

• Backpack (30-40 liters): A backpack with sturdy straps and a supporting frame. Rain cover for the backpack is essential.
• Trekking / Sports shoes in good condition. (require A good grip.)

Outdoor Apparels

• Full Sleeved & collared T-shirts: To prevent sunburns on the neck and arms.
• Full Trekking Pants.
• Sweaters / Sweatshirt; To protect from cold at night.
• Thermals: Those who are more susceptible to cold can carry thermals to wear at night.
• Wear one pair and carry one pair extra.
• Cap / Rain jackets / Warm wears / Windcheater as per season.
• Napkin or towel.


• Snacks: Fruits, Dry-fruits, Cookies & Chocolates, etc.
• Min. 3-4 liters. Water/Hydration pack.
• Energy drink like electrolyte powder.
• Personal medicines, if any.


• Torch / Headlamp.
• Sunglasses, Cap, Trekking Pole, Camera etc.
• Extra slipper to use after the trek or at the campsite.
• Utensils: Plate, Bowl, Spoon & Glass, etc. (Mandatory)
