rajmachi fort

Highlight

Rajmachi Fort is one of the many historical forts & most exciting trekking place in the rugged hills of Sahyadri mountains. It has two stronghold forts, Shrivardhan and Manranjan; with a wide plateau (Machi) surrounding the two Balekillas. Udhewadi is a small village of about 22 houses situated on the Machi, at the southern foot of Manaranjan Balekilla of Rajmachi Fort. It is a famous spot for trekking.

The best season to visit Rajmachi is the monsoon and the winter season. Nature is at its best during this time and one can see amazing waterfalls and lush green forests en route.
In monsoon, you can view the beautiful Kataldhar Waterfall from Shrivardhan Fort.

The fort played a strategic role in the First Anglo-Maratha War. Rajmachi Fort has been declared as a protected monument.

Unparalleled and memorable, Rajmachi Fort trek is sure to prompt you to keep coming back!

facts about fireflies

Fireflies are nocturnal insects. Despite the name, they aren’t flies, but rather a type of winged beetle. The light produced by fireflies is a chemical reaction used to signal members of the opposite gender.
Each firefly species has its own distinctive flash patterns. Sometimes, they even blink in unison! Flash patterns range from continuous glows or single flashes to series of multi-pulsed flashes. The light produced by the firefly is the most efficient light ever made.

Almost 100% of the energy in the chemical reaction is emitted as light; in comparison, an incandescent light bulb only emits 10% of its energy as light, the other 90% is lost as heat.

The glow of firefly larvae (glow worms) serves a different purpose by frightening away potential predators. Fireflies are reportedly extremely nasty tasting and some species may be poisonous.

Where can fireflies be found?

These insects live in a variety of warm environments, as well as in more temperate regions, and are a familiar sight on summer evenings. Fireflies love moisture and often live in humid regions of Asia and the Americas. In drier areas, they are found around wet or damp areas that retain moisture.
