Lying southwest of Bhor-Pune, this is a prominent 8km long plateau. At the temple here, Shivaji Maharaj as a teen-aged boy vowed to establish “Swarajya”. It is a place of worship. There is a small village at the top.
There are many approaches to this plateau; from Rayari village, Korle village or a long zigzag ridge connects the plateau to Kenjalgad. The breath-taking views and the feeling of untouched nature is just mind-blowing. Ideal place for a one-day trek.
The places worth visiting on Raireshwar are Raireshwar Temple, Gomukh Lake, Nakhinda, and Pandavleni. It is a very beautiful place to visit from June to February.
Koleshwar is a huge mountain plateau that stretches as long as Mahabaleshwar. The top is wonderful and large with a variety of scenery: grassland meadows, fern-filled expanses, dense forests. The views are wonderful too. On the large top, there few families stay isolated from modern life.
Arthur Seat Point is located at a height of 4396 ft. and is surrounded by the deep Savitri gorge on one side and a lush green plateau on the other side. Popularly called Queen of the Points, Arthur Seat Point has been named after Sir Arthur Mallet who was the first man to build a house at this point. Arthur Seat is the only point that clearly shows the geological contrast between the Konkan and the Deccan territories.
From Arthur Seat Point one can get a mesmerizing view of the Mahabaleshwar Range including Pratapgad, Koleshwar, Raireshwar and Chandragad. It is one of the most popular viewpoints for its dramatic grand canyon like views.
