Sandhan Valley is known wonder of nature & splendid of Sahyadri (Western Ghats); undoubted “The Valley of Suspense” or “Valley of Shadow”. The legacy of both the names has come from the geographical structure and high rising horizons of this trek, which indeed confirm a whole lot of adventure that ends with a rejuvenating experience.
Sandhan Valley is located in the Ahmednagar district; on the west side of beautiful Bhandardara region, near Samrad village. Valley surrounded with tough trio Alang-Madan-Kulang, Ratangad Fort, Ajoba & Kalsubai mountain ranges.
Sandhan Valley trek is a very good combination of a canyon and a valley. Water carved valley of 200 ft. deep and about 1.5 km long. Brilliant & deep narrow rock floored ravine between the two high 300 ft. walls of the mountain range. At some places, its width is less than 3 ft. so that at some places sun rays unable to reach. So it’s called “Valley of Shadow”.
You can enter in Sandhan Valley but it is accessible throughout the year except for monsoon. To go at the end side of gorge you have cross 2-3 water pools, water level changes according to seasons, in winter it is up to waist & in summer it is up to knee height.
After crossing several small rock patches in Sandhan Valley, you have to descend by rappelling on a 50 ft. patch. At the end of the valley, you get a magnificent view of high cliffs & deep valleys of Sahyadri.
Rugged terrain, sharp mountain cut-outs and challenging routes, that’s a real challenge through gigantic rocks.
